An AC Service Beats the Florida Heat

Bring your car, UV, or truck to LP & Sons Auto Care for an AC service to keep the interior as cold as possible during the hot and humid summer weather. This is one way you can beat the Florida heat. We are also going to list some suggestions below that can reduce the temperature some inside your vehicle. Please keep in mind that these suggestions will not – not – reduce the temperature enough to make the interior safe for pets and children, so do not leave the pets or kids in the car.

Park in Shady Spots

We realize this suggestion is obvious but any time you can park in a shady spot, you should. This helps keep the interior of the automobile cooler than if you are parked in the sun. Think about getting shade anyway you can. You may not be able to park underneath the tree, but there may be a public parking garage close by. If there is, take advantage of the shade that it provides, as well.

Use Artificial Shade

You can also create shade for the interior of your automobile. Use a windshield shade that is held in place by the visors every time you park your car. Purchase window shades that attach to the window with suction cups. These shades open and close for your convenience. Finally, find a way to shade the rear window, as well, if you do not have an automatic shade in your vehicle.

Cover the Interior

Even with the shade, you may also want to cover the interior of your car, truck, or UV so it doesn’t scald you when you enter the car. You can do this with towels or rags. Simply drape the towels or rags over things like the steering wheel, the seats, the gear shift, and the dashboard to keep these surfaces out of the sun’s light. This keeps them cooler to the touch when you get in the car.

Get a Service

Finally, as we mentioned above, an air-conditioning service can take care of any problems your car’s air conditioner might have during the summer months. This includes replacing old refrigerant or topping off a low level of refrigerant, replacing a damaged condenser, or replacing a malfunctioning compressor.

In addition, it’s also a good idea to have the cooling system serviced if this is not been done in 30,000 miles. You want to make sure there is plenty of coolant in the engine to prevent it from overheating.

Call LP & Sons Auto Care in DeLand, FL, to schedule an appointment for both services.
